What’s on in Newcastle This Summer?

Newcastle has so much going on this summer. Here are just a few events to look out for

For the summer of 2022, Newcastle is pulling out all the stops with family-friendly festivals, markets, food stalls and so much more all open for those looking to immerse themselves in something new.

Without further ado, here is a breakdown of some of the top events coming to Newcastle between June and September 2022.

Central Park 2022

Already open (since April), Central Park is a multi-storey experiential masterpiece in the centre of Newcastle, which combines bars and plenty of street food options with various attractions, games, and even live shows that groups of friends or families can enjoy.

The daytime vibe is very much about enjoying the atmosphere and trying out the array of food, drinks, and hangout spaces – while at night, Central Park offers a whole different dynamic. This hugely popular pop up venue will also be showing all of England’s Nation League games live on the big screen.

Hadrian’s Wall Beacon Party, 2nd June

If you’re a fan of history, culture, architecture, and generally immersing yourself in an opportunity to learn more about the area which surrounds you, then this celebration of Hadrian’s Wall will allow you to discover more about the famous route which runs through the Ouseburn Valley. Bonfires, music, stories, and local beer will all be brought to the celebration, which marks 1900 years of the wall.

Hedkandi Jubilee Special, 2nd June

For one night only, at the Colonel Porter Emporium in Newcastle, Hedkandi is making sure that you see in the Jubilee bank holiday weekend in style, with a host of dance floor anthems and celebratory drinks.

Ouseburn Market, 4-5th June

With the next event being held on the 4th and 5th June, the Ouseburn market is a celebration of all things local retail – welcoming over 60 local traders and crafters into one place to market their wares and capitalise on the good spirits of the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

With not one but two days’ worth of events and browsing time, there’s plenty of opportunity for you to get out and explore what’s on offer – with more information available through the event’s Instagram page @theouseburnmarket.

Bongos Bingo, 17-18th June

If outdoor festivals aren’t your thing, then Bongos Bingo has a host of events on this summer – from tropical inspired nights to the coveted Bongos Bingo XL event in Newcastle on 17th and 18th June. Think disco inferno meets bingo, meets dance offs, meets magical moments… and you’ll be halfway to picturing what this popular event involves.

TalkSport Live with Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour, 21st June

If you love sport and comedy, then this is the perfect evening for you – with Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour taking to the stage to share their funniest stories from their footballing careers and their most eye-opening experiences in the public sphere

The event takes place at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House and tickets are still available here.

Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, 26th June

Musician and singer Rag ‘n’ Bone Man will be at Newcastle racecourse on 26th and 27th June, as part of his first full length show since the release of his famous single ‘Human’ in 2017. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster – but be quick as they are sure to sell out quickly.

Ouseburn Festival, 16th July

A celebration of all things Ouseburn, the 2022 festival is a community-run event which features a market, boat rides, live music and performances, tons of great food and even better local drinks. The doors to some of Ouseburn’s finest establishments and venues will be open as part of this festival, with options for families, young people, students, and couples.

Loosefest 2022, 30-31st July

A music festival that brings to life electronic music and a host of other genres, Loosefest is considered to be one of the biggest festival weekends in the Northeast of England and as such is a must on the wish-list of students from across the North of England and beyond. And with headliners including the Black Eyed Peas, there’s nothing to stop older music lovers from joining the fun!

PAW Patrol Live, 5th August

As part of the UK tour, PAW Patrol is the must-see on every family’s bucket list this summer – inviting the whole gang of pups together to deliver a musical adventure which is highly interactive and memorable for children of all ages. Seriously, even adults will enjoy this one…
