Starting university can be a daunting yet exciting time so we thought we’d share some of our top tips and knowledge with you.

With two central University campuses, Newcastle is thriving with students at this time of year. With so many event options to attend and a busy schedule, the city offers an abundance of activities to kickstart your time at University. Stay up to date with what’s on in Newcastle by subscribing to your Universities newsletters and following your student union for information. A great instagram page to follow is @newcastlene1.

It is important to stay organised during your first weeks at University and to begin to build a routine and adjust to University life. Here are out top tips to guide you through Fresher’s Week:

  1. Stay on top of your admin tasks – it is easy to let the socialising take over this week, but it is so important to stay on top of your admin tasks, such as registering with a doctor or any pre-course tasks you have been set. Trust us, you’ll thank us later!
  2. Attend your University’s freshers fair – Get to know your city and familiarise yourself with people and businesses that you may need during your time at University. Pat Robson attend both Newcastle and Northumbria University fairs, as when it comes to your 2nd, 3rd and 4th years at University, we are there to help you find your ideal accommodation!
  3. Check out the societies you can be a part of – Get involved with your University and it’s societies. It is a great way to meet new friends during your time here, and it also looks great on your CV when the time comes to search for your career!
  4. Save your local taxi company’s number – Safety and the wellbeing of students is very important during your time at University. We recommend you always have a safe way of travelling home. Save your local taxi company’s number into your phone in case you need it.

We hope you have found these tips useful and we wish you good luck for starting the new academic year! Feel free to give us a call on 0191 20 90 100 when the time comes to search for your next student property!
